Partnership Pilot

With the Partnership Pilot, SDG&E customers can enroll Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) such as rooftop solar or battery storage. By participating in this pilot, customers and aggregators can support the use of cleaner energy.

Partnership Pilot

The Partnership Pilot has been discontinued  and is no longer accepting participants or applications. Effective June 21, 2024, the California Public Utilities Commission suspended the Partnership Pilot.

How the Pilot Worked

The Partnership Pilot gave SDG&E customers the opportunity to enter into an agreement with an SDG&E-approved aggregator by enrolling their Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) to support the grid. DERs can include rooftop solar, battery storage, gas-fired turbines, load reduction measures or other technologies.

Through the Partnership Pilot, customers’ enrolled DERs will be used as sources of energy and load management that allow the electrical grid to work efficiently and reliably, especially during peak periods in specific geographical areas. These DERs can be aggregated on certain distribution circuits to provide power that allows the utility to delay or avoid construction of costly equipment upgrades. Customers may also be compensated or receive benefits from the aggregator for their participation. If you are interested in learning more about how to participate in the Partnership Pilot, please contact one of the approved aggregators listed below.
